If the isbn is different, it will be added to the record with a parenthetical statement of the imprint, i.e., 00005550 (Harperfestival).</span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;">If the copyright varies, the pagination varies, or if the book is truly a new edition, 4cls will make a new record.</span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></p>

<p><i><span style="font-size:11pt;"></span></i><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Class all fiction in J (no Dewey number)<span>  </span>(See also Folktales above)</font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">If a picture book has a substantial amount of factual information or is a true biography, give it a Dewey number.<span>   </span>The presence of indexes, bibliographies, or a sophisticated concept or set of ideas are indicators that the book may be given a Dewey class no.<span>  </span>Ask if unsure how to handle the book.<span>  </span>Travel numbers are not used with children’s books.<span>  </span>They are all classed in the Dewey country numbers.<span>  </span>If a children’s book does not have page numbers, use, unp., in collation (300 field).<span>  </span>Nursery rhymes are classed in J398.8.<span>  </span>Jokes and riddle books class in J398.6. Class children’s books which have the texts of songs, but no music in J, even if it has an accompanying CD.<span>  </span>Class books with substantial music in the 700’s.<span>  </span>Scary stories: class in J398.25.</font></span></p>

<p><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size:11pt;"></span></font><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">If the book is fiction, it is usually classed with fiction (no Dewey number).<span>  </span>Exceptions are on a case by case basis.<span>  </span>Usually children’s books in series or very popular authors should be classed in fiction. Comprehensive holiday craft books are classed in 745.5941 etc. For egg decorating, 745.5944.</font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></p>

<p><font face="Times New Roman"><span style="font-size:11pt;"></span></font><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">In the past 4CLS has used the call no. q351.3 civil service test publications, mainly published by Arco Publishing Co., and National Learning Co.<span>  </span>4CLS wil now class these test booklets in the appropriate subject.<span>  </span>For the most part, the main entry should be under title, with added entries for the publisher.</font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></p>
<h1><em><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Career books</font></em></h1>
<p><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman">Books that deal with a specific area or discipline, i.e. careers in the arts, careers in finance, should be given a call no. in that discipline with table 1 subdivision –023.<span>  </span>Books that deal generally with careers should be given a general number encompassing career information, such as 331.702 etc.</font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span><span style="font-size:11pt;"><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></span></p>
